Printing to one print que prints on anot

By themayor ·
I have an interesting problem..
All users in this particular remote location
are seeing this problem.
Some of these users are on Windows 95 and some are on Windows 2000.
When people print to the LaserJet 4 queue on the philly server it printsto the LaserJet 4050 printer instead. They use static IP addressing.

Any idea on how best to trouble shoot this one? Thanks
Rich

One comment: It could also be that the HP 4050 N is changing its IP address of that of the other printer (Laserjet 4) .. must be the gremlins eh?
Thanks

Try 1. go in to printer properties for the 4050 queue and check the ports tab to make sure the correct IP address is checked. Also, while there, make sure printer pooling is not checked (might check this on the LJ4 queue as well). If all that checks out, try pinging the address that the 4050 is supposed to be on. If no answer on that address, then maybe the 4050 has the wrong IP configured. Good luck!

Make sure that the proper ip addresses are assigned to the printers as well as the servers.

If everything on the server and a telnet into the printer shows that it has the correct ip address as well; and it's only happening from a few workstations, then I'd also recommend that you visit the workstations and delete all the printer drivers and reinstall them.
