Printing to USB port from DOS application - win98

How do I configure my system to print to printer with USB port from an MS DOS application?

Hi

You should be able to print normally to a USB printer. However, there are certain models of USB printer which cannot accept DOS print commands.

Share your printer, then map the share to lpt1: ie net use lpt1: \\pc\hp840.
You should then be able to print from most DOS apps that support LPT1: printing. NOTE that some DOS apps print direct to lpt port and will not function using the net share.

this is gonna be more trouble than its worth. depending on your application, which you do not mention, you need to get maybe a good epson dot matrix printer. you can bend over backwards to get usb printer to maybe work (i have never seen what you propose work, btw)
get a lpt laser that can emulate an epson. see your dos applition manual or help files or pirnter configuration to help you see what printers you can use.
