Printing using Remote Web Workspace

By mgonzales ·
I have a client that is using Microsft Small Business Server 2003 and uses the Remote Web Workspace alot. They have approached me about the ability to print to their local printer while they are connected to their desktop. Does anyone have and experience dealing with this configuration?

Thanks in advanced.

you can create a batch file to map the printer. But the easiest way would be to setup the printer as a tcpip printer

When using RWW there is an option that must be checked under options when connecting to a client computer.

"Enable documents on the remote computer to be printed on a local printer"

Also you need to have the printer driver for the printer on the remote computer loaded on the Host computer.

When the user logs into the office computer the printers using the same print driver will link up and allow you to print on the local printer.

This will only work for Windows Applications.

If they are using a DOS app they can not print locally this way.

The only way a DOS app will print to the local printer is by using a VPN connection to the SBS 2003 server.
