Printing with Win98 causing problem

By mark.leonard ·
My PC is running Win98 and networked to NT Server 4.0 . Everytime I print from any application, windows or not, I get an illegal operation. The error reads
Example: "Excel caused an invalid Page Fault in ISM.DLL" or if not ISM.DLL it is in Kernell32.DLL. Then the Error window stays on the desktop. If I "X" it, it just returns so I have to reboot the PC everytime. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated

Regards

When an illegal operation occurs in kernell32 it is never a good thing. What you might want to due is disable all the items that are running in the background and then trying to print to see what happens. If not uninstall excel if you have it to see if that resolves the problem. It is just a process of elimination.

This sounds like you're missing a patch on the 98 machine. 98 had this problem prior to updates. You might want to update the system at MS Updates.
