    Private IPs access publicly?

    HI!
Can anybody give me an idea/suggestion on how to make private ips publicly accessible. Our company support many servers that needs to be publicly accessible, unfortunately we are close to running out of publicly accessible ips. Is there a software that can do these kind of “tweak”? Thanks in advance

A proxy server. Your private ip’s won’t be available to the outside, but to users it won’t matter. They will connect to the ip of the proxy server and the proxy server will do the rest. Typically this is called reverse proxy. With a proxy server usually you only have one public ip and want to share it among users with private ip’s.

A “proxy” server is correct. The technique is also variously called ‘network address translation’ and ‘ip masquerading’.

There’s a huge variety of commercial software that can do this. If you don’t want to shell out big bucks, get a copy of Linux which comes with IP Masquerading features built in.

You can also use a NAT (Network Address Translator). It lets you use one public IP address for every thing. From Internet access to Internet serving.

Private IPs cannot be publicly accessable. Internet routers will not forward them. You can use NAT to assign a public IP to the private one as mentioned above, but that doesn’t solve your problem. Each server still needs a public IP address whether it’s the real address of the server or a NAT.

It sounds like you will need to get more IPs.
