Problem in Windows XP

By SFHSGrad00 ·
I have a friend who just bought a new computer with Windows XP. She says the system keeps losing her work, even if she saves it. She would be typing a paper, and on occasion, will "cut and paste" information into her paper. Soon, she will get an error message, and it gives her the option of sending an error report to Microsoft or ignoring. She has tried both, and then after that, her work would be gone. Even if she saves her work, she cannot recover anything.

Problem in Windows XP

You aren’t very specific about the events that lead up to the failure to save. It would be helpful to have the exact error message, and the exact sequence of events that lead up to the problem. Does it happen all the time or just some of thetime?

However, one possibility – if it happens ALL the time – could be the Windows activation/registration requirement. If the software isn’t registered within a certain amount of time, it will not work (or will not work properly). The Software can deactivate unexpectedly, rendering the software useless until a code number is obtained from Microsoft.

See this CNET link on that issue:

(REMOVE SPACES from the pasted URL.)

Post the exact error she’s getting, and we could most likely pin point the problem.

If she is using Office 2000,she needs to activate the software with Microsoft before she can get the full capabilities of the software
Read the error report and itmay hold the key to her problem.
