Problem installing applications

By jsarinana ·
I have a Windows 2000 prof computer that will not install some applications.
I'm logged in with Admin rights
all application have been installed by the same user with Admin rights. I have even gone as far as uninstalling the anti virus before installing. I've also gone into reg edit and made sure I've taken off the applications that did not install. Under add & remove I can see that the application is loaded but I get no icons or menus. The applications install fine on other Win2000 computer. Any Suggestions out there ?

Reference the following Microsoft articles on installing Windows 2000 applications.

"Windows Installer Service Overview?
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/howitworks/management/installer.asp

?How to Manage Windows Installer Local Policies" (Q227181)
