Just a guess since I don't have ME, but all other versions of Windows thru 98 (including NT) use a config.sys (or config.nt in NT) file to support DOS apps.

Try editing it in Notepad and look for a line that says "Files=...". Make it Files=99 (or add that line if it doesn't exist).

Reboot and see if it's working now.

Are both sessions attempting to access the same files? Could be a share vilation

Actually, and i am sorry sysco, but, Dos based applications in Win9x and up have used 2 access methods, Real mode, which forces a restart in Dos mode using a config file called Config.dos, and the a Virtual machine mode, utilizing a PIF file (program information file) for setting the Dos environment.

WinNT, Win2K, and WinME actually use a proprietary app called cmd.exe, to emulate a Dos environment, inside it's own virtual machine. (Microsoft is trying to retire Dos),
and they will not directly support real mode apps. The configurations are going to be very similar though....read on...

The pif file settings can be edited by right clicking on the iconused to launch the application, and choosing properties.

from here, memory configuration and dos environment settings can be adjusted to control how this application will function inside it's virtual machine.

You can reference your Clipper manual for assistance in configuring the program environment required for each of your sessions.

Good luck....

Windows ME was intended for and marketed at the home networked user, it really was never intended for a corporate environment.
There isn't really any great benefit to upgrading, and in some cases upgrading to winME can lead to serious problems. If I were you, i would go back to win98, as I said, WinME does not run RealMode Apps very well, and the clipper you are using, requires an "Actual" Dos environement.
Feel free and reject this answer as well, just remember, don't get in the practice of shooting the messenger just because you don't like the message.

Best of luck with this app...
