Problem with auto log off!!???

By PCBen99 ·
Customer notes that she is having to continually log into Novell Client for Windows, every couple of minutes.
While she is not using the workstation, the system is going to a hibernate mode, user then restarts, and is able to log in.

I changed the power settings and screensaver settings, but it is still doing the same thing....!! any help is appreciated.

Disable Hibernate?

by oldbaritone In reply to Problem with auto log off ...

It seems unusual that the system is going into Hibernate rather than Sleep. Is it a desktop machine? Can you disable Hibernate?

Secondly, check BIOS settings and see what the power switch and lid switch (if it's a laptop) inputs do. Usually they can be configured, and Hibernate is one of the options but not the only one.

Also check power management and see what's set for battery alarms. If it's a laptop with a bad battery, or if she's bumping the power plug on the laptop, it may be a battery condition that's triggering Hibernate.
