I currently have a HP zv5000 series laptop. I am already using the bypass of the multimedia chord to power the computer because the power jack apparently went out months ago. This worked for a while but then I encountered another curious problem. I can still charge the battery using the multimedia cord and can operate the computer on battery power, but when I want to run the computer on AC power the computer starts up and shortly thereafter the fan speeds up making a louder faster noise then the computer shuts down.
I assume it is a overheating problem.
How can I fix this? Do I simply need to replace the motherboard or can I add some new thermal paste to the cpu?
Thanks
