Problem with keyboard

By rmskk ·
I have english keyboard, use both english and french input.I change the keyboard layout by selecting from the language bar of Office XP 2000. After several months, some keys of my keyboard, including the enter key start not responding. I bought a new keyboard, and after several months, the same problem occured again. Likewise, I have so far replaced three keyboard in one year.
Before switching to windows xp pro, I was working with windows 2000 for years, there were no such problems. Is this due to my switching between two different keyboard layouts or is there another cause. Thanks for your help

It is certainly possible that your PS2 port on your system may be dying. Have you tried a USB keyboard?

If you are using a USB port try changing to a different port or to a PS2 keyboard. Whichever port type you are using could be going bad or if you are using a USB hub in addition to the ports on you computer, that could cause a problem similar to the one you are having.

I am having the same problem with several ps and laptops at the university. Sometimes I can switch the keyboard out and have it work and sometimes it still won't. It is only certain keys. Mainly the enter dn escape keys. Also the left and right arrows. What is up with that. It has only started happening in the past 3 or 4 months. I am pretty sure it is not XP PRO. And it is on a diversity of brands.
