problem with loading win98

I have a intel se 440bx-2,phoenix bios 4,problem started when I installed win me on c and win 2000 pro on a seprate partition,win 2000 corrupted win me,I fdisked and formated back to one primary partition,tried to load win98,,it will not load completely,it freezes and crashes.Also when computer posts,it hangs a long time before trying to load,then error messages,all different…thanks
