problem with mp3 on win2k

By mena_367 ·
Mp3's playing using windows media players.(Any version) on Windows 2K mp3's sound like if is running out of juice or lock of power. I try several players and disable the hibernation but still plays funny. Any suggestions? (By the way I'm using a Toshiba 8100 PIII laptop)

Wow, that's odd. It's a P3 so it gotta be able to handle the decoding.. the only other thing I would check is yor hard drive.. It also needs to keep up with the processing in order for the mp3 to play smoothly... check power settings on them, ortry to determine how fast that hard drive it.. Do you notice it when you run off your battery vs running on AC?

First, hibernation has nothing to do with it. If it's actually playing the MP3, but sounds funny, I would check Toshiba's web site and make sure you've got all the latest drivers for your system. Do other sound files sound funny? like .wav? or is itjust MP3s? How much memory do you have?...you know, win2k is a memory HOG. Anything else running in the background? Try running the performance monitor while you load the MP3 up and play it...utilization? memory usage? page INs/OUTs??? Bad speakers?:)

The problem was resolved by removing the infrared driver from device manager and the sound drivers. Downloaded the latest drivers and you need to installed the infrared 1st than the sound drivers. (This seems to be a specific problem with Toshiba 8100 laptops)
