Problem With NAT

By bijeshbk ·
Problem: Completely windows platform n/w setup; no domain environment. Configured NAT & DNS (std primary) on same win2k server (no DHCP, have multiple Public IP's). Configured DNS forwarder to resolve externalsites. Setup works fine for an hour or so then complaints in that mials are not working, some times sites are not opening. But as soon I restart the routing n remote access services all works fine. Have to restart the services every hour or so. VERY URGENT, IMPLEMENTATION ON STANDBY.Please give me a solution.

what pool of addresses did you create for external clients to obtain an internal IP address to have access to internal resources? Sounds like you run out of pool addresses. Reboot would clear and provide the pool again.

There is no body accessing the the internal resources from out side the network. & there are 7 public IP address in the pool. out of which one is given to the router (listed this IP under reserved list; allowed incoming traffic on it). DNS has a domain configured on it & has a domain configured on it & also forwards. If there is only outword trafic (only users connecting to the net form the internal n/w )& no one connecting to the internal n/w form outside what could be the problem. Please advice
