Problem with NTbackup
LockedUsing small business server 2003 on a dell 2600 server with a sony DDS-4 tape drive.
Want to back up some files from a network drive to the tape. However every time I run windows backup, it crashes. This happens whether the backup is started from the scheduled tasks folder or interactively. Sometimes it crashes immediately after mounting the tape, sometimes it will quite happily write data for 2 hours before crashing. The errors I get are as follows:
Faulting application ntbackup.exe, version 5.2.3790.70, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x0000744e.
Faulting application ntbackup.exe, version 5.2.3790.70, faulting module mfc42u.dll, version 6.5.3014.0, fault address 0x000010a7.
Faulting application ntbackup.exe, version 5.2.3790.70, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x00008787.
After the error ocurrs it is not possible to eject the tape nor write a free media label on it. The server must be restarted before it is possible to perform any further operations on the tape drive. I cannot figure out what is going on here. This problem has ocurred since the server was installed in August.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
