Problem with page numbers in Footers

By al_5desh ·
The page numbers in footers of my word document are incorrect. I have selected "Different First page" in Page Setup. But the page numbers from second page onwards are totally mismatching. It shows page no. 20 on second page itself. It starts counting page numbers from 20 onwards. At the end of the document, page x is bigger than page y (i.e. page 50 of 47). Can anyone help me out to rectify the page numbers in Footer section?

Check the number format.

View | Header and Footer

Click on the Format Page Number button on the toolbar.

Check the "page numbering" section at the bottom. You can set it to continue from last section or manually enter a page number.

same problem

by atrainer In reply to Problem with page numbers ...

I am having similar problems with Microsoft Word 2007, and so are some of my coworkers. We know how to create sections and format sections to have different headers/footers, how to format the page numbers to start at a number other than the default, etc. Microsoft Word just doesn't seem to be listening anymore. I have been looking for a workaround/fix for weeks. I appreciate any help that's out there.
