Problem with Power Saver

Not knowing what version of Win98 you are using. This fix may help. Be very careful editing the registry. This solution is to resolve an issue I had when I upgraded from win98 to win98 2nd edition.

To work around this issue, use Registry Editor to remove all but the default subkeys 0, 1, and 3 in the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Powercfg\PowerPolicies

Problem with Power Saver

I just figured it out.
In the users System Configuration Utility (in Win98 ver2). There were 2 LOADPOWERPROFILE settings in the Startup, one was checked and the other one wasn't. I unchecked the one that was checked and rebooted. It saved the setting after reboot.
Thanks for your time.
