Problem with TCP/IP

By tseay ·
I am having a problem connecting to several site hosted by the same domain provider. When I pind the site the name resolves to the IP but the times out. I did a tracert and it makes it about 10 hops and dies. Is this a problem with the network, provider or me?

10+ Hops seems a bit excessive, as this says the route is not being finalised. Considering you can ping the site and then it times out, I would be inclined to say they might have a router or switch down which they are unaware of.
It wouldn't hurt to contact them and ask them to confirm this for you.
Hope it's that simple,

He is right about that. If you can ping your
isp and its DNS servers thats all you need. So if you cant get out past them or a few sites then it would be your service provider or thier backbone.
If its only a few sites you cant access but can access everything else then it is possibe that those sites are the problem.
