Problem with WINIPCFG error

by ar032 . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

Hello

A doctor where I work has a laptop with a PCMIA card and the the IP is corrupt. He is running windows 98. I know in windows 95 thier is a ws2bakup where you can run and it will restore the winsock Ip from back up.

I deleted the the pcmia drivers in control panel > System and TCPIP from Network neighborhood as well. The problem is as I see it is WINSock is corrupt in windows. I seached also in windows directory for ws2bakup cant find it.
Technet for windows 98 doesnt give a solution for this. For windows 95 it says to install the winsock2 update but I cant even use that for windows 98. I wont take it.

Now I am stuck. I have deleted the orginal drivers from system Icon and deleted tcpip. Renistalled the everything like newfrom the orginal floppy disk manufacture and tcpip. I get no errors anywhere other than at WINIPCFG
Which means tcpip/winsock is corrupt.

I simply dont know what next to do. I have stumped all the other “gurus” here where I work.
