problem with XP

hi friends

my PC (dual core,3.0 gh, i have two ram one of 1gb and other of 512 mb)
when i install XP my PC becomes slow.
on other OS its smoothly working(its fast, like opening window etc), y so .
can any one help me for it.

So your dual core CPU is only capable of addressing single channel RAM.

That effectively cuts your prcessor speed in half.

You should really have 2x1GB of RAM - that way you get the benefit of a dual core CPU running dual channel RAM.

WHAT are you comparing your 'slow' XP to?
What is this 'smoothly running' alternative that you don't specify?

Check the manufacturer of your system's (or motherboard) web site and download, then install the chipset drivers.

There are times that XP will not have all the necessary drivers and it can affect system performance.
