Problems accessing some web pages.

By sypond ·
Up until about a week ago I had no problem loading any page on the internet. Now for some strange reason neither of my browsers (Netscape 7.0 and Internet Explorer 6) will load certain pages. With Netscape I get the message "The connection was refused when attempting to contact us.geocities.yahoo.com", and IE simply loads the
default page which says "The page cannot be displayed". On some pages neither browser will load all the image files. With Netscape it loads the page up until I receive the error message, "The connection was refused when attempting to contact ad.doublclick.net" (just an example), then it won't load any more of the image files for that page.
If I right click on the image and click on "View Image", I get that same error message. With IE it loads most of the page but puts up a smaller version of the message, "The page cannot be displayed" in the area where the image should be on the page. When I right click on the image and click on "Show Picture" IE attempts to load the image file but then displays the box with the 'X' in it where the image should be. Does anyone know what is causing this to happen and how I can remedy the situation? I downloaded Opera 7 and it had the same problem.

Sounds like security settings but here's a few other important suggestions,
1) Most important, Virus Scan (try AVG Free edition at www.grisoft.com, much better than Norton/McAffee)
2) Try an AdAware scan, sounds like your have some tracking software running.
3)Turn down your Security settings (Tools>Internet Options>Security)

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for your input. I tried what you suggested but still have same problem. Thanks again. It seems to be when the page tries to redirect.
