There are 7 machines (win9 and 1 server (NT) on this LAN. All 6 clients connect to server without major problems, except for 1, that I have no idea why it's not getting into network. What should I check/change to make this machine visible on the LAN and working properly ?

In win98 system, right click on the network neighbourhood and select properties. In that open files and print sharing enable both the options and restart. Before that from the server try to ping the win98 machine.
1. Check your hardware. Insure that your Network card is install properly with out errors.
Next, Check the cable, switch it with one that does work.
2. I have had this problem to before, it occasionally occurs during initial installation of several software programs and then installing a network card.
It is a this point that everything seems fine you reboot and then it doesn't work.
The way I did it was by not rebooting, but shuting the system down, wait a few minutes then power it back on. Then reinstall the Network card.
Try checking the duplex setting under the network adapter properties, advanced tab. The setting may be incompatible with the switch or hub the PC is connected to.
