i have a pc that was installed with windows xp media center edition, the service.exe failed to launch and the windows\system\config folder was missing or corrupt. i tried to copy the files over from the cd, but to no avail. i then tried a repair install this also failed. it would start to tell you about how great XP is (bout 34 mins left) and would restart.
so i decided on formatting and putting a clean install on. on copying files, (Around 67 %) multiple “fails not copied correctly” i try to retry them, then skip the files and it would give me verious different blue screens! i have tried this 3 times and it is starting to get annoying. any help would be appricated before i do myself damage by throwing this very heavy unit out the window.
