Problems printing to an HP printer

By tspelchuk ·
Problems printing to an HP printer. I tried several PC's and everything but Word is fine, with Word you get an error message "Printer busy or printer error." Works in 2000 but not in NT?

Problems printing to an HP printer

by Nivek R. In reply to Problems printing to an H ...

If its printing from other programs but not from Word, the problem likely lies in a conflict between Word print settings and driver or physical printer settings. Make sure the settings on the printer's menu (i.e. paper sizes and types) match what's actually in the printer. Then, go into Word by searching for the file "Normal.dot" (this is your blank Word document template) and double clicking on it. Check in File => Page Setup. Make sure the default tray is set to "Automatically Select". Go to File => Print => and then to both Options and to Properties. Check to ensure that there are no paper sizes listed that conflict with what's actually in the trays. If you have to change it, don't forget to save it. Hope this helps.
