Problems to Encounter

By rumbalx ·
I am a tech student working on a representation. What problems would I encounter using Windows NT on an IBM mainframe computer?

Problems to Encounter

by TheChas In reply to Problems to Encounter

If I understand correctly, your plan is to install Windows NT onto a mainframe computer.

What problems, try hardware and command structure.

There is a major difference in the instruction set between a mainframe, and a PC style computer.

That assumes, that you could even get Windows to recognize the hardware, and start the installation.

Installing Windows onto a mainframe is akin to installing Mac OS onto a PC. The software is not designed to function with the hardware.

Now, you can install NT on a PC class server.

You can also get software to allow a PC running NT to communicate with and control a mainframe.
