Problems with a shared printer

By int ·
I have 3 windows 2000 pro machines and 4 windows 98 machines connected on a switch. A laserjet 3100 is connected to the windows 2000 machine and shared for use with the other machines. The windows 2000 machines can all print, but not the windows 98 machines. Any ideas?

Does the win98 computer have a login account on the Windows 2000 computer that has the printer?

The Win98 computer must have a login name and password that matches the login name and password the user of the win98 computer uses and the W2k computer must have the same login and password account with the rights to access the shared printer.

last post takes you half way there.

what you have to do is install 98 drivers on the 2k machine to allow win 98 machines to print to it.Go to properties of your printer from the win 2k machine and click the sharing tab, click on additional driversand install drivers for win 98, make sure you have the drivers at hand.

sorted!

sorry, already tryed it
im a have a lot of experience in there things, and i have found the problem already on my own.
The laserjet doens't support differt operating systems on 1 network, wich makes sharing impossible.
