Problems with ActiveX

By itplaya ·
Our NT Server box has been giving errors when going to websites using ActiveX controls. It will say, "security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls" everytime you visit an ActivX site. I am also unable to use 'Windows Updates'.

To start I double-checked Internet Explorer settings and everything was set for defaults. While searching for an answer, I found an article saying to re-register certain 'dll' files. Unfortunately, this did not work either.

Then I read an article about checking the ole32.dll and comcat.dll. The comcat.dll registered fine, but ole32.dll did not.

It says, "ole32.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found"

My question is, "how do I (safely) copy a new version of ole32.dll on the system?" When I try to copy the file it says its in use. I am also unable to unregister the dll with regsrv32.

Any help or input is appreciated. Much thanks in advance.
