I have a westell B90-327W15-06 DSL modem with built in 4 port wired and wireless G router. I bought a new laptop woth a wireless N card, so I decided to get a wireless N router as well (trendnet tew-632brp). I connected the N router (henceforth referred to as Home N) to to the DSL modem/router (henceforth referred to as Home G), and got internet access on my laptop using home n. i set up two different SSIDs for each wireless router, so i would know which one i was connecting to. i also have a wireless connected HP C7280 connected (wirelessly, of course) to the home N SSID.
here’s my problem: anything that is connected to the home g router (either wirelessly or with cat5) does not see and is unable to access anything on the home n router (wireless or cat 5). not really a HUGE deal, as i can connect my desktop, my older laptop with a G card, my new laptop with the n card, and the printer to the home n router and all is hunky dory. HOWEVER, my girlfriend’s laptop only has a wireless G card on it. in order to be able to use the printer or access the music files on my desktop from her laptop, i have to reconnect everything to the g router.
please make this stop! i am at the point of pulling my hair out here. my g/f NEEDS to be able to access the printer from her laptop (she bought the darn thing). right now, she has to go into our home office and plug into the n router with a cat 5 to print anything.
how can i get the laptop with only a g card to be able to access everything attached to the n router?!?!?
plz don’t ask me about which win, etc i am using. all components (three xpsp2, one vista, and one wireless all in one) work seamlessly if i put them onto the same router (n or g, it really doesn’t matter), i just need to know how to allow those on the g router (which is the dsl modem, and i need to use the g wireless) to access/use those on the n router. and yes, i know i can just connect everything to the N router, but that entails having my g/f’s IT people mess with her laptop (it is her work computer, and i am just unable to get it to connect to the wireless N SSID with the stupid cisco card and software they have installed on it), and i want to be able to use both wireless routers anyway.
thank you!!
