Problems with BFG 6800 GT OC Graphics Card

By ian ·

Has anyone had any problems with a BFG 6800GT OC AGP 256mb card? I have recently been given one (brand new OEM), however when I install it the screen goes green (text is green etc) and the PC gets 50% through the start up before it crashes. I have started in safe mode and installed the latest Nvidia drivers, however this has no effect.

I am running a P4 2.6ghz
1GB Ram
Asrock P4i65G Motherboard.]
Windows XP Home (SP2)

I can't disable the onboard graphics in the BIOS, I ca only change the preference to AGP from PCI.

Any suggestions?

You must be able to disable it some how, is there an option to set the amount of RAM it uses? Can you set it to 0MB?

I can adjust it so it uses 32mb, 64mb etc. The only thing that I can do that looks like it may turn off the onboard graphics is change the preference from PCI to AGP.

Check BIOS

I've encountered these same problems with AGP graphics cards when the users didn't get the shadow memory set properly in the BIOS. All sorts of trouble erupts and can even lead to a complete blank screen making it really hard to figure out the errors
