I’m using a Hayes V90 faxmodem to dial up at 56K on Windows XP Home.
However XP finds Lucent Win Modem instead by plug and play?
Using the Lucent the modem sounds like it’s dialing but reports a no dial tone on AOL and a no answer at receiving computer on Tiscali.
I’ve tried adding the drivers for the Hayes modem and uninstalling the Lucent but this doesn’t seem to work at all.
The modem is enabled and appears working with no conflicts. Have everything set up as needed in the settings options.
The Lucent modem occupies COM3 an option I don’t get with the Hayes modem.
To cap it all off, the partition on Win2000 is identical and worked with Hayes defaulting to COM3. Although this too no longer works, probably as a result of my messing.
Any ideas greatly accepted.
