Problems with formulas & Functions in Excel

by ra_pearce . Updated 19 years, 5 months ago

Am having a nightmare with reports that are produced from our database.
The reports are produced in excel but when I try to run any formulas or functions they do not seem to work. e.g. I try to work out the number of days between two dates using the DAYS360 formula but the date in the arguments box has #VALUE! rather than converting to the excel number format. I also have problems with V-Lookup. I know I am using these formuals correctly because if I manually enter any data onto an excel spreadsheet, the formulas work fine.
Our software people have said the following which I dont really understand but maymake more sense to someone else:
for generating Excel reports from web services. That’s a regular shape

with each excel cell represented by a table cell

. We also use some specific Microsoft styling to achieve vertical text etc and force alpha formatting to stop Excel interpreting things like telephone numbers as numeric fields and dropping lead zeros.

I have tried re-opening, copying/pasting & trying to reformat cells but nothing works!
Any ideas would save more of my hair being ripped out!!
Thanks
