Problems with IE5

By timcha ·
1. Every time I start IE5 I get the following Message "internet explorer compatibility mode" - "this is being run in compatibility mode and not all features are enabled"
What is it and how do I get out of it?

2. Tried to upgrade to IE6 get the following message "A previous installation has pending work requiring a reboot. You need to restart your computer to complete that installation before running internet explorer set up"
and rebooting does nothing.

3. Maybey related or not but I'm getting memory problems and my C:root has thousands of files that are tftp.

Hope someone can help

This is on Win2000 Server

Compatibility Mode is when you run IE4 and IE5 togeather, which is done if you did a custom setup and did not uncheck the box to compatibility
To uninstall
click Start-Run-type regedit in the box,go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Compatibility
right-click Compatibility Mode,select delete,then close regedit
click Start Programs and right-click the Internet Explorer Folder, select delete
click Start-Settings-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs,go to IE5 and select the Remove button and then choose to Repair, reboot
