Problems with Intel 2,8GHz CPU on Freetech P8F155 Motherboard

by burnsb . Updated 19 years, 2 months ago

I have been running an Intel 2.4GHz/512/533 CPU in a Freetech P8F155 motherboard for a long time with no problems.

But after I put an Intel 2.8GHz/512/533 SL6PF CPU in the Freetech P8F155 motherboard, and I have had problems booting and have problems keeping the system up after reboots. Re-boots take ‘1 – n’ attempts, after which Windows XP is loaded. But when you excecute some (but not all software) like say Windows Media Manager, the system goes into re-boot mode.

Interestingly, the Intel 2.8GHz/512/533 CPU works just find in a Freetech P8F155P motherboard using the same OS. The Freetech specs for P8F155 motherboard indicate that it, like the P8F155P motherboard, supports the Intel 2.8GHz/512/533 CPU.

According to Freetech support, it has not encountered the problem that I’ve had with its P8F155 motherboard and Intel 2.8GHz/512/533 CPUs.

Any suggestions on how I might approach resolving this issue?

Thanks in advance.
