problems with Microsoft Office

By thalchak ·
I have been having a problem with Microsoft Word and Excell lately. I have Office 2007 and m running Vista Professional.

Whenever I try to open an existing word document or excel spreadsheet I get an error message that reads, "Windows cannot find C:\users\ etc. etc. (document name). Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again."

Word or excel will semi-open with a dull or faded appearance. When I click on the "Office Button" in the upper left corner of the screen, I can go to the file and open the document from there. So I have to resort to openng the program first and then opening the document second.

Also, when I am done working in word and attempt to close the program, (after saving the document of course) I keep getting a (not responsing) error message in the upper left hand corner next to "Microsoft Word".

I have done a registry scan thinking that maybe something was wrong there.

I have also run Microsoft's diagnostic tool and everything comes up good.

As I am writing this, a though occurred to me. It seems that every program you install anymore wants to put itself into Office. For example, I recently purchased some blank Avery birthday cards and downloaded their software so I can start doing a better job of sending out birthday cards this year. Now I notice that there is an Avery Wizard on my Word toolbar. There are others like a pdf converter on the "add-in" tab of the toolbar.

Could this be the cause?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
