Problems with olympus camedia master sof

I've had no problem with Camedia version 1.11 on W95, W98, and XP machines.

The user manual is a PDF file, so it is possible that the installer is attempting to open the manual as part of the install. I would try re-installing Acrobat reader andsee if the install completes normally then.

Also, a good trick for "problem" software installations is to shut down ALL other programs. Start by closing all of the programs in the system tray. Then, use Alt-Ctrl-Del to show any other open programs.
The only program that you need running before you install the software is Explorer.

I have seen several programs that could not be installed while my anti-virus software was running.

I have unloaded unrelated programs. Microsoft is still looking for the pdf file. I have install 1.2 Camedia again and now it just sit there with their logo. CTL ALT DEL net me with program not responding. I am just wondering if another program or software installation could be bumping heads with 1.2. I am awaiting an answer from olympus also.

I have Camedia loaded on a Windows98 machine and it doesnt have any problems. Maybe you should uninstall the program and reinstall. Or, backup your files, and format your hdd. I tend to format and reinstall Windows 98 about once a year.

I have unilstalled and reinstalled the software. Formatting the hard drive will not do it. That would be the last thing I do, to much time and the old adage, if you don't use it you loose it. It still seem to me that one program is in the spot that Camedia wants.

My next level answer depends on how skilled / brave you are.

Many times a failed installation leaves junk behind in the system registry.

Back up the registry files before prceeding.

In regedit, start by searching for PDF review each occourance, and delete any keys that you are sure you no longer need.
Then, search for both Olympus and Camedia to see what keys the installation left behind.

Reboot the system, and if the system works normally, attempt the install again.

I have alsoseen instalers open readme and other "information" files that are in the PDF format.
So, I would install Acrobat reader before attempting the Camedia install again.

Finally I have removed the pdf problem and still having the load problem. I went in to msconfig and removed the load of the Camedia instruction book. I looked at the registry with sysedit and there is nothing running pertaining to the stupid software. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still it takes 30 mins. to load.

Thanks Hank
