Problems with Request and response

By IREChe ·
<%@ Language=VBScript %>
<html>
<head>
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
</head>

<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
<%
formName=Request.QueryString("username")
Response.write("Name = " & formName)
%>
</body>
</html>

This test ASP page is called from an HTML file containing a form of one text field. The username is sent in the querystring using the method GET but it is ignoring everything inside the <% %> delimiters.
Source of the index page below;

<html>
<head>
<title>Palmgolf Properties</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
</head>

<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
<Form Name="form1" action="getData.asp" method="GET">
<Input Type="text" name="username">
<BR>
<Input Type="submit" value="send">
</form>
</body>
</html>

Any ideas anyone???

Problems with Request and response

What kind of server is this on? The web server needs to know how to parse an ASP page. This will NOT work *locally* (http://localhost/ or File:///C:/whatever) without an IIS server or PWS or some such. This will usually NOT work in Unix (they need special software for Apache, etc). IIS must be configured to do ASP.

Also, don't use capitals in the html mixed with lowercase.
<form name=> not <Form Name=>
<input type=> not <Input Type=>
That can confuse some apps.
