Problems With SSH on a Cisco 3845

By gillhamjs ·
I cannot remote connect into the router using SSH. Everything is enabled and looks to be all configured properly. I've tried changing the SSH password but it's not working and I feel that I'm not doing something right. If some one could help me out and explain to me what needs to be done to reset the password i would greatly appreciate it.

SSH settings for Cisco 3845

by mustafa.aksu In reply to Problems With SSH on a Ci ...

I had the same problem. Most probably you tried ip ssh commands but they are optional the mandatory settings are;
domain name
generating rsa keys
aaa new model or login local command under vty configuration to enable username/password authentication.

You can find the step by step explanation at

Hopefully it will help.
