Proceedure entry point kernel32.dll

By chuck ·
My Wiindows XP Pro was running good for awhile. Now I go to RUN and enter msconfig, I get "The proceedure entry point reinitializecriticalsection could not be located in the dynamic link library kernel32.dll". Then the System Configuration Utility screen appeasr after I close the error message window. One other program does this, but with msconfig it appears right away.

Try scanning for virus, if no change then try scan disc to look for possible errors. If no luck then the .dll file may have been altered by some software, or a bad shut down. May try replacing Kernel32.dll, by getting it off the net,(if you get it from the net make sure to scan for any viruses in the file), or from another computer running Windows XP Pro. If you choose to replace the file back your system up first. I have never had any problems with replacing a file, but you never know.
