processor upgrade

By PENGUINSRULE ·
I'm looking to upgrade my processor - I have a Packard Bell with a AMD 333Mhz processor.

Packard Bell doesn't sell to the US anymore and the number they have you call charges $2.79 / minute - anyplace I can go to find out what processor I need and can order it?

thanks

Hi, First off you would need to know what motherboard you have so you could find out if in fact it can take a faster processor, then you would go from there. But, for what it would cost you to upgrade that one, you could easily build a new pc (motherboard, processor, memory) for I am sure ALOT less, then just move your HD, vid card etc into the new one. I just built 4 AMD 1.2 Ghz T-Birds for a myself & a frined of mine & the cost for each MB, processor & memory) was about $300.00. go to www.pricewatch.com & either find a MB, processor combo or buy them seperately, whichever is cheaper, then get the memory you need & anything else you want or need, when it comes in, build your new system. You will be much better off putting your moneyinto a new MB/processor than fighting to find the right processor to work in your existing MB. Prices are SO low right now too, & keep they falling.

HTH,

Best Regards,

Tony

I agree. The problem with trying to upgrade a Packerd Bell computer is that they were notorius for changing the MB, processor, ram, video card .... and so on from to computer and from week to week.
