Product key w/o installation?

By shwerp ·
I have recently run into a problem. I have an older computer that got infected with a virus. It wiped everything out. I now am trying to install my xp pro back onto it but have realized that I lost the key. I understand that there are ways to find a product key while the program is installed on your comp but I cannot install it without the key. Is there anyway that I can find out what the product key is? I bought the program legit through school a while back. If I call MS and give them the serial number and stuff on my comp would they be able to see the version and possibly the key for the XP that was installed on my comp?
Thanks for the help.

You'll also need the Original OEM CD of XP Pro as you will have to read a number off the inner ring which can be on either side according to when the CD was made. If it is a restore CD from HP., Dell, Gateway or whoever you'll need to contact them for the product key as MS will not be able to help you out.

But there should be a sticker on the outside of the case with the Product Key on it called a COA by MS it should have printed on it the type of Windows installed and the actual product key. But with some cases because of the way that they are painted these do fall off.

Your school has a volume license. I would call them and ask them for it. They should have it on file.

download windows xp key changer 2.0, get a temporary key, install software on your pc and the program should give you your key back.

Note: inorder to for this to work (get temporary key) you need to stall this program with the same OS, HOME OR PRO.

let us how things work out
