Can anyone recommend good professional organizations for IT professionals? I'm looking for organizations starting from admins all the way through CIO. I like my staff to network and hear how things are done elsewhere, and a professional organization would be a good place to start?
Any suggestions? Any particularly good experiences with networking, information sharing, etc.?
Thanks, Bill

I subscribed to this topic hoping to pick up some ideas on pro organizations. billpoly, I'm almost as disappointed as you probably are with the lack of response.
I've found this to be the most comprehensive/non-ad driven list of reputable organizations.
As far as which ones are the best, I really don't feel qualified to answer that one. I belong to a couple (Project Management Institute and American Society for Quality). Usually, you'll find that there are networking opportunities at two levels - the national and the local levels.
My local PMI chapter is extremely focused and organized. It's a great networking environment. I have been a part of other organizations where this isn't the case and I find them just to be another line on the ole resume :).
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
