    Progarms behind Proxy

    Locked

    by bradley o ·

I am behind a proxy sever right now that requires Authorization and I am trying to run soem programs that require access to the net, but these programs won’t connect. Two of the programs are MSN Messanger and POD http://www.pod.com . Is there anyway to bypass the proxy or get the programs to give the proxy sever the proper authorization?

Your problem is most likely not a Proxy problem, but a firewall/filtering problem. Many companies don’t allow instant messaging traffic to transit the firewall. If this is a requirement, talk to your network admin about opening up the ports requiredby your programs.

Yes, there is… i run MSN Messenger from behind a firewall and proxy, you must go into the options of MSNM and the last tab is used for socks proxy, choose socks 5 and that will allow you to use proxy authentication.

You could also try it just straight through the http connection too.

Unfortunately i haven’t found a way to get POD working on my computer either, but i think its just a firewall setting problem.

You might want to talk to the network administrator about specific server and port settings.

      good luck.

Are you using MS proxy server? If you are you need to run the Winsock proxy client software install on the internal clients to allow them to use MSN messange , ftp, pop3,etc.

      goto http://yourproxyserver/msproxy
click on the link to install theproxy client software, reboot and everything will work.
