ProGen PC (blinking green light)

By ojmj ·
I am running a Pentium II (Celeron) ProGen 333 MHz. On power up there is no fan activity in the power supply or on the motherboard. The "power" light on the front panel blinks for about 5 seconds when power is turned on, but disappears afterwards. Replacing the power supply makes no difference. Have pulled all cards to rule out bad cards. Still just a blinking light. Looked up ProGen problems at complaintcenter.com, and all I found were problems. No solutions. Any ideas?

Not really familiar with ProGen Pcs, however from your description of your problem, it looks like a motherboard failure. Just to confirm try removing or replacing the RAMs and ensure that all connectors, IDE cable and add on cards are securely and firmly seated. If nothing happens, then that would leave you with either motherboard or proccessor problem since the boot-up cannot even pass the POST. I have encounter a blinking and beeping AST Bravo which turn out to be a motherboard problem. Good Luck

It is in fact most likely a mainboard issue, however do try replacing tha cpu amd memory with known good ones to eliminate these as possibilities. Also make sure P1(atx) or P8/P9(AT)are throughly connected(may be loose but not totally disconnected)These are the main connector going to mainboard. Other than that, it 99% surely is a mainboard issue
