Program Defaults

How can i change the settings in Windows Xp Pro so that when i put a movie dvd it goes straight into Intervideo or WinDVd and when i put a music cd in it goes straight into winamp.

In other words how can i change the defaukt settings so that i can choose whta software to use

Why bother, just set up a simple route-path operation.

Right click on the drive letter for your cd/dvd drive in explorer.
Select properties and go to the autoplay tab.
You should now be able to select the default program for music/video/mixed content etc.

Also make sure autoplay is not disabled.
gpedit.msc
computer/admin templates/system/turn of autoplay

hi...put your movie cd and not allow to auto play first.then go to my computer and open the cd ,then move to the desired movie file ,just press and right click ,windows will pop up available programs ,in that time choose the appropriate program and check mark the "allways using this program to open"....thats all.... enjoy

If it hasn't already been done when you insert a Disc a box should open with all available media players listed highlight the one you want and then tick Always open this player with this format.

That way you can have DVDs played with one Media Player and Music or Video Cd's played with another type of media player.
