Does anyone know of a good way or an additional program that would keep track of many users in a small college library on a 2-3 computer peer network with W98 using NAT32 to share dial-up internet access? We just need a list of web sites per user sothey know they can't go where they shouldn't unless they want to get caught. Thanks.

Perhaps you can use the content advisor to allow access to approved sites? There is a free program available at Crosswalk.com It sets up a "proxy" for access to the internet sites that are approved by Crosswalk.

A client of mine usees it, and it seems to work for them.

There was a -program, similar to something like netnanny or cyberpatrol that would just cache whatever info would come into a connection and allow you to view them. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of that off hand.

If this is a shared access like you're saying, what you can do is pull the old AOL trick on them. Basically setup something like webwacker on the host computer to cache in all of the pages that are downloaded and from there you can look at what's been downloaded.

Winproxy has a cacheing feature in it's system, but the only luck I've had with it has been if the files in the cached directory don't get corrupted, I'm fine.

I suppose without any software, you could point everyone's history and temp files to the main computer instead of having them local oin each machine and use the IEAK to disable the screen that have the clear history and cache buttons.

Good luck to you

Mark

I user a firwall product at home called Zone Alarm that allows me to control what sites users on my home network go to as well as providing a firewall for protection from outside users. I believe it also has logging capability. Best of all, it is free. It can be downloaded at http://www.zonealarm.com
