I checked my 98 box and found no such file as srv32.exe or reference to it, so it might be from some appliction thats been installed. Maybe some poorly written shareware or something. I would run msconfig (from run menu type msconfig) and search and remove all reference to it. You should search the registry as well, this may give you an idea of what application wants this to run at start up. If you find it in registry you may try to reinstall if you want to keep the app that calls it or uninstall it . I have office 2000 installed among other things so I don't think it's part of that, as I did a full install(well almost full)However my 98 box is stand alone (no network) so be careful. In any case if the app is causeing errors it needs tobe fixed regardless, so start with registry search to see if you can identify the app it relates too, and go from there.
hope this helps

srv32.exe has been recorded as one of the names that the Subseven trojan uses for its client. I don't know of any other reference to it. Is your virus scanner up to date? Subseven is a couple of years old now.
