Program removal

By tahoewoody ·
I pulled the hard drive out of my broken laptop. I have programs on it that I can't replace. Is there a 3rd party software that would allow me to pull the full program off the hard drive and install it in its entirely onto another?

Well I don't know of a specific appliction that you are asking about but if you go to CNETdownloads.com you can search around. They have all kinds of cool little applications.

Even if you copy the entire program installation directory to the new hard drive, you will still be missing all the Registry entries.

In some cases this could run to hundreds and hundreds of entries.

You might manage to revive these programs if you were to find an identical laptop that you could then fit this hard drive into. Or get your 'broken' laptop repaired.

Other than that, you would be best to reinstall them from scratch onto the new hard drive. You should still have the install discs. :)
