Programmatic administration of IIS

By agibbs ·
I need a way to install FrontPage Server extensions via a VBScript program or command-line utility. I know this can be done in VBScript and via command-line using the FPSRVADM utility, but neither of those methods (to my knowledge) allow you to speciically configure the SMTP mail server & mail reply addresses for FP Extensions. Anyone know a way to do this?

Look into the SMTPHOST Command.

SMTPHost

The SMTPHost variable is set to the name or IP address of a host running an SMTP daemon, such as sendmail on UNIX. When a site visitor submits a form whose results are to be sent via e-mail, the FrontPage Server Extensions connect to the SMTP daemon to deliver the mail. By default, FrontPage assumes that the daemon is listening on port 25 (the standard for SMTP) but you can override this by appending ":xx" to the name, where the xx is the port touse. Normally, you will set either the SMTPHost or SendmailCommand variables, but not both, because SendmailCommand takes priority over SMTPHost.

Example values: mail.example.microsoft.com, test:10000, 127.0.0.1

hope this helps,
Anthony Biondo

Sorry, no help there -- besides, that excerpt is from the FP 98 resource kit not FP 2000
