    Programming ?????

    With so many programming languages/systems/formats out there, I am looking for opinions on which Language/system would be the most versitle and most in use with the prospect of being not outdated in the forseeable future?

      I would suggest the following have the greatest current appeal. One might get a better analysis by scanning Monster.com or Dice job listings.

      * Java – J2EE
      * SQL
      * C++
      * VB 6
      * C#
      * Other .Net

      You will also get different answers if you look at specific industries. Embedded work still relies on C with a little bit of Assembly.

      I’d say Java because it does the most and is not dependig on your system (OS and the like).

      To change that notion is one idea of .NET Learn any language which apeals you. You are still there. Now .NET application written on Windows will work on Linux provided the opensource .NET is implemented in it. Soon other vendors will support/supporting. Learn even Fortran… you are still there. Now .NET has made possible to write #Pragma Inline even in VB [Not exactly same keyword. Find for yourself]. That means you can embed assembly language in .NET programming language also. My bet would still be VB or otherwise C#.
