Stated budget for size of enterprise is totally inadequate ... it should be closer to $ 1 million if you have correctly stated size of enterprise. What kind of computer system are they using now? How can you compete in this day & age without already having an ERP system?

The cost of implementing a new ERP system is greatly dependent on what kinds of records you now have that need to be converted to the new computer system.

A place to start is education n ERP & MRP II in general, before the project plan makes any sense, then education for the project team in whatever ERP system was selected.

This site may be inappropriate place to have meaningful discussion on topic ... you may be better off posting an article on ERP supersite about the nature of your enterprise & what led you to this decision, then invite people to post comments to the article.

I can cite other sites if you interested. I have been employed full time in computer management of ERP systems for close to 20 years. Companies that correctly implement such systems can see savings of an order of magnitude of 200-500% increase in productivity, but many attempts to implement become failures with millions of dollars wasted & sometimes bankrupsy. ERP is a culture change for a corporation - it affects 100% of the employees having to do their jobs differently & thinking about things differently. The computer part is really a small portion of the big picture.

There are literally tens of thousands of competing ERP systems ... you can get a CD Rom from Manufacturing Magazine in which you spell out what cr

You can get a CD Rom from Manufacturing Magazine to help you select the ideal ERP for your enterprise, in which you spell out what criteria you want in a system & it will reccommend a vendor, but I found this system to be too limited for my employer's needs.

However, it is more important to install some ERP yesterday than to spend years shopping around for the best one, because if you do not have an ERP you cannot possibly be competitive.

I suggest you temporarily sign up for forums of users of various ERPs & ask them ... why did your company select this particular ERP ... are you happy with it ... what did it cost to implement vs. size of company.

Most forums are filled with people griping about problems & getting solutions from each other, but see if they defend the product they use or suggest you go to the competition.
